NOFO Aerostat

Lindstrand Technologies designed the NOFO aerostat to provide maritime surveillance for a Norwegian search and rescue ship.

The big blue beyond: The day and night camera, hoisted on the aerostat at a height of 914 meters, increases your captains visibility at sea tenfold. Even more, Linstrand Technologies suggests that this purchase only increases ship cost by 2%.

It’s all about the package: The complete system for the tethered aerostat includes the aerostat, mooring station, winch (the lifting device) and tether cable. The tether cable is usually made from Kevlar and carries both the power supply to the aerostat and the fiber optics for communications.

Whatever the weather: These aerostats can withstand many weather conditions, working well in tropical climates, arctic climates and everything in between. As an added bonus, Lindstrand aerostats come equipped with a tether cable that has a copper outer sheath, protecting the aerostat from lightning strikes.
