The real-time, autonomous, synthetic aperture radar (RSAR) is a lightweight and self-contained radar designed for installation under the wing of an unmanned aircraft system (UAS), making it a great option for monitoring and surveillance missions for MPAs. This radar platform installed on a UAS system is a great way to monitor MPAs and collect data.

Research for results: RSAR was developed to act as one component of a suite of cooperative sensors and is a part of a continuing research program with the Naval Research Lab, Space Dynamics Laboratory and SRC Inc. This research is dedicated to developing sensing systems that are compatible with UAS operations and deployments.

Compact and convenient: The RASAR's small size and lightweight design takes up little space on most aircraft payloads, and can be equipped on a variety of drones, maritime patrol aircraft or aerostats. RASAR's persistent surveillance is applicable to maritime security and surveillance.
