// DESCRIPTION

SAAB released the Swordfish Maritime Patrol Aircraft platform in 2016. It is an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) mission system that is used for long-duration patrols, search and rescue missions and antisubmarine operations. It can be fitted onto two manned aircraft models, Bombardier's Q400 turboprop and Global 6000 jet.

The Swordfish includes an electro-optical/infrared sensor, security communications, AESA 360 radar and various options for data linking.

Jack of all trades: This platform is suitable for anti-Submarine Warfare, anti-surface unit warfare, long range search and rescue, combat search and rescue, maritime counter terrorism, anti-piracy/narcotics/people smuggling, Special Forces support and general maritime surveillance, including exclusive economic zone monitoring and protection of national borders.
